Employees' perception and organisational culture in state higher institutions: A cross-institutional study in Delta State
Abstract
This study examined employees' perceptions and organizational culture across three state-owned higher institutions in Delta State, Nigeria: one university, one polytechnic, and one college of education. Using Denison's organizational culture model, the study focused on four objectives: to assess perceptions in each institution type and to compare differences across them. The sample size of 154 respondents from the three institutions was determined using the Krejcie and Morgan formula, derived from a population of 2,749 academic and senior non-teaching staff of seven state higher institutions. Data were obtained through a structured Likert five-point questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey HSD post-hoc test. Results revealed significant variation in perceptions, with the university and the college of education reporting higher mean scores than the polytechnic. The findings indicate that organizational culture is not uniformly perceived across institution types.
